It is required that the foundation does the right type of work. This is possible only if the problems are identified and problems will only be identified if research about them is done. Hence the foundation is highly committed to work towards trying to identify the problems in order to ensure proper solutions. The foundation focuses on research in the various fields concerning the elderly. To name a few issues that are being covered :-
a) Geriatrics – It is to look at the impact of quality of life on the health of older people. There has been a continuous change in this aspect and quality of life has changed in the past few decades. And it is getting difficult for people especially the aged to be able to adapt to these changes. This affects both their physical and mental health. The kind of new lifestyle is different and difficult for them to adapt to.
b) Caregiving and caregivers – The most important aspect of the life of the elderly is that they need care hence there have to be proper guidelines for caregiving that the caregivers can follow.
c) Emotional and Social aspect – Emotional and social needs are equally important along with medical needs. Without any social life the elderly get emotionally disturbed which not only affect their mental health but also has ill-effects on their physical health too.
d) Successful ageing – Ageing is seen as a word which makes us pity the elderly. But it is an art to age successfully and gracefully. This is what the foundation is trying to work on so that in the future the idea of ageing becomes beautiful and is not full of anxiety.
e) Mental health – The tension and anxiety of approaching old age affects the people mentally. The foundation feels that it is important to tune the thinking of everybody to accept ageing as another event in life and eagerly look forward to it. This can be achieved by a positive and planned approach.
